Access By Flight
if you are flying from Maun it takes you 25 to 30 minutes and 50 minutes if you are flying from Kasane to land at Khwai Belmond airstrip and our guide will be waiting to pick you up in a game viewer and drive 7 minutes to Khwai Moremi Vacation Cottages.
Access By road
Driving from Maun to Khwai Moremi Vacation Cottages There are 2 routes; the quicker route via Mababe or the slightly longer route through the Moremi Reserve. Leaving Maun Airport, take the airport road and then turn left onto Sir Seretse Khama Rd. Keep heading north through town where the road curves east and crosses the Thamalakane River. You will come to a traffic circle, take the first exit.
From the traffic circle, when heading North, its 27km to Shorobe. Continue straight through Shorobe, the road turns into a gravel road at the end of town. AUTHENTIC AFRICAN SAFARIS From the start of the gravel road, continue 19km to Mawana Buffalo Fence (a veterinary check point). 2km past the gate you will find a fork in the road and now need to decide which of the 2 routes you want to follow. Mababe Route - this is a longer (92km) but faster (3 hour) drive with no park fees Take the road that forks to the right. Follow the road for 26km to Sankuyo. Continue straight through Sankuyo and drive for another 32km and you pass through Mababe.
Shortly before Mababe, you will find a WATER DETOUR sign where you need to turn off to the right and follow a short detour around a permanently flooded section of road. Once through Mababe, you cross over a permanent metal structure bridge and keep to the left along the main gravel road From the bridge you will find a turn off to SAVUTI/LINYANTI (to the right) after 3km, but you continue straight After 29km on the main gravel road you will cross over a concrete bridge 1.5km after the bridge you will find another concrete bridge.
Drive 2km from the bridge and take the sharp left turn and after approx. 500m you will reach the main gate of Khwai Moremi Vacation Cottages.
Moremi Route
Moremi Route - this is a shorter (65km) but longer (3 – 4 hours) drive with park fees Take the road that forks to the left (South Gate Moremi) Continue on this road for 36km to the South Gate Park entrance. At South Gate you will be required to pay day entry fees
Immediately once through the gate, take the NORTH GATE signposted road to the right After 30km you will find North Gate.
After signing out, you cross a wooden bridge and continue on the main gravel road for 3km where you will find a fork in the road Take the road to the right and after another 500m you will reach the main gate of Khwai Moremi Vacation Cottages.
